Ian Thomas

Having just completed a week in Australia, spent visiting our Brisbane office and visiting several customers, I have made my way over to the Middle-East.  It is great to be back here and to be such a big part of this rapidly growing region.

One message that I take home from these visits, is that every country; every company; and every person uses our software just a little bit differently to each other.  Culture, client demands, and product knowledge all play a part in how the software is applied on a daily basis.  This is what makes what we do exciting... As you continue to grow, we must continue to develop the software, services and training programs to help support your growth.

In this newsletter you can learn about a cool new feature, a hint & tip using an often under-used feature and find out about our next training classes.

As always, I hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter.

What's New at O'Neil

Grids are just a Clip Away...

We often tell you about all the BIG reasons to upgrade to the latest version of RS-SQL and ensure you have all the latest patches installed.

Well this month we have a really small reason.  A simple new feature added that is getting rave reviews: Copy a grid to the windows clipboard.

When you apply the latest patches to make RS-SQL version 4.00.14 you get this great new feature.  It works exactly like Exporting or Printing, by only working on selected rows, but this option places this onto the Windows Clipboard.

What this means is that you can paste the rows that you captured from grid directly into other Windows products, such as MS-Excel or MS-Word.  No need to export the data and import it into one of these products.  It's quick, simple and very, very convenient.

So, if you were waiting to upgrade your system to the latest version of RS-SQL, then maybe we have found you a small reason to go ahead and do it.

You can download the latest patches at:

Newsletter Poll still underway...

For me, getting out to visit our customers is so important, even though an increasing part of my workload requires me to sit sedately behind my desk.  It is also proving more difficult as we continue to expand across the globe (now in 78 countries), and I am sorry that I don't get to personally meet you all.  This, of course, is the challenge: How do we continue to provide you with the latest news from O'Neil Software and the industry?

In  the last eNewsletter I announced that I had decided to move it to a bi-monthly edition rather than monthly as more and more of you visit our User Forum, follow us on Twitter, Friend/Like us on Facebook, and keep updated via Linked-in

So was I right to change?  Simply go to our User Forum and you can take part in a poll and join the discussion on how you would like your news delivered.

Today, more and more of our support is delivered by email and this can present a certain challenge... overcoming the dreaded spam filter.  We understand that everyone is inundated with spam on a daily basis, but filters can sometimes by inaccurate.  As such, we have discovered import information that didn't make it to the recipient in a timely manner.  This can usually be overcome by simply white-listing our domain name, so emails are seen as from a "trusted source".

As always, if you are unsure or require further clarification on any of the technical topics discussed... simply ASK! Remember, we are only a telephone call or email away. For our contact details, click here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before loading any service packs, check with your O'Neil support representative first. News on the effects of loading a service pack is received all of the time and they will be able to advise you of any issues.

This month we look at another question that our support team or User Forum was asked. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you know the answer?

Question: I would like to be able to run a monitor which queries by Web Order Requested Priority Action Code, but it is not a query-able field.

I can't use the Web Order Notification tool as we work in a Terminal Server Environment and want to be notified even when the Remote Desktop Connection is minimized.  Can you help?
