A relatively short newsletter this month as we continue to prepare for the Strategic Partner Conference and roll-out RS-SQL version 4.0.

The What's New section has a correction from last month, as we are continuing to grow and highlights two new employees to help with that growth.

We also are getting close to closing registration for the Strategic Partner Conference, so don't delay as you could miss out.

As always, I hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter.

What's New at O'Neil

Two New O'Neil Team Members to Welcome...

In the last two months we have added to new team members to our international offices.

First was Caroline Keane, who joined our Australian team to provide regional Customer Service support.  Caroline, who most of you will recognize as Irish when you speak to her, brings customer service experience from the Australian Telecom industries.  Her experience will help us to bring some best practices from this larger industry and help us service our existing customers throughout the Asia-Pacific and Australia regions.

Next to join was Majeda Chowdhury, who brings her extensive training and technical knowledge to the UK-Based team.  Majeda has knowledge of SQL-Server implementation and training, as well as experience as a Software Engineer, Technical Support Assistant, and Database Administrator. Her primary role will be to boost our training team, so there is a great chance that many of you will meet Majeda over the coming months.

I am sure you will join me in welcoming them both to our team.

RS-SQL is now used in more than 1,000 record centers in 77 Countries!!

Just last month I excitedly announced that we had installed our software into out 75th country, but I was already behind the curve.  Just one month later we had increased to 77 countries, thanks to new clients in Honduras and Malta.

Thank you to each and every one of you for choosing O'Neil and continuing to make us the first choice of record centers Worldwide!

So don't delay. Write the date in your calendar and book early for the not-to-be missed event of 2010.

*** UPDATED*** 2010 Strategic Partner Conference  - Agenda Now Available

The agenda for the Strategic Partner Conference is now available on our website and has some great topics being discussed.  Go to and click on the Agenda tab.

The keynote speaker will be Tom Adams, who many of you know as an expert in the marketing of records management services.  Tom will be sharing is wisdom in the area of Marketing in the Internet Age.

There are also 16 speakers sessions, with many being conducted by O'Neil users, showing how they have used the software to solve particular business issues.  From reporting interfaces to Web customizations, these generous users are willing to share the knowledge of what they have achieved.

Four of the talks from our support group look particularly interesting.  They are:

•  Paperless Order Fulfillment
•  Defining your own import format and other cool importing tips
•  RSWeb.NET; the latest and greatest and how to make it uniquely yours
• New functionality of invoicing; draft invoices, schedule invoice runs in advance, automatically apply rate increases and more

And, of course, we will take the opportunity to gaze into the future and share some of our plans, as well as provide opportunities to discuss new ideas.

It's all happening in April.  Can you afford not to be there?

***NEW*** RSWeb.NET Startup Kit for Version 4.0 added to our website

RSWeb.NET has the ability to be customized with forms, queries and column formats individually designed for each of your clients.  Sound like a lot of work?  We thought that too, so we have created the startup kit to help you along.  This was available for previous versions but has now been updated if you are installing RSWeb.NET for version 4.0.

The startup kit is available at:

If you have previously installed the startup kit with an earlier version of RS-SQL, you do not need to install it again.

RS-SQL Version 4.0.08 - Updates Now Available

RS-SQL version 4.0.08 is now the latest update for the latest version.  If you are using RS-SQL 4.00.06, you should install these updates.

There are four available:

  • The program patch must be installed on all computers running the RS-SQL Client. This includes the database server (if the RS-SQL Client is installed there).

  • If you are using RSWeb.NET, this patch must be installed on your web server.

  • If you are using Reporting Services, install the RS-SQL Reporting Services Patch.

  • If you are using RS-SQL Event Interest, install the RS-SQL Event Interest Patch, which is optional and is not required unless you are encountering a problem.

The update is available for download from our User Forum at:

**UPDATED** RS-SQL Version 4.0 - Readiness Check (Yes, a newer and improved version)

RS-SQL version 4.0 comes with a new program designed to ensure you are ready to upgrade.  Known as the Readiness Check program, it will be available on the RS-SQL installation CD in the folder with the same name.  You should run this program prior to upgrading your database to RS-SQL version 4.0.

So what will it do for you?

The program examines even more of your RS-SQL database, looking for unexpected objects that might interfere with the RS-SQL 4.0 database upgrade.   The Readiness Check program will also check for and report on SQL Server 2000 presence, and inform you of the RS-SQL 4.0 requirement for SQL Server 2005 or later.

This improved version also reports on some additional factors that have prevented upgrades from succeeding even though the customer did not have any external programs or constraints.

You can download the updated Readiness Check Program and associated files at:

Unzip all the contents before executing the ReadinessCheck.exe program.

**UPDATED** RS-SQL Version 4.0 - New Features Document & Release Notes

Want to read about all the changes in this latest version, as well as check the Upgrade/Release notes.  Well you don't have to wait until you receive your copy of the RS-SQL 4.0 CD, you can download the documents today at:

As always, if you are unsure or require further clarification on any of the technical topics discussed... simply ASK! Remember, we are only a telephone call or email away. For our contact details, click here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before loading any service packs, check with your O'Neil support representative first. News on the effects of loading a service pack is received all of the time and they will be able to advise you of any issues.

These courses are available in the US in Irvine, CA, as well as in the O’Neil Software Offices in Milton Keynes, UK and Brisbane, Australia

The complete 2010 Calendar is now available on our website and user forum.

Also, do remember that specific training classes not scheduled may be requested and will be offered on demand, based on an adequate number of attendees.  This means if you don't see what you want on our schedule, request something else.

This month we look at another question that our support team was asked. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you know the answer?

Question: Customer adds a BOX to the system via RSWeb.Net Module. Then they add FILE FOLDERS to the box. All items (box & files are in PENDING status).  When we pick up the box and scan it into inventory the box status changes to OUT (courier scan) then to IN (whse scan) but the FILES remain in PENDING status.  Why?
