Our Meeting
Center and O'Neil EXPRESS sessions utilize the
Webex
Meeting Manager services. Webex has identified
several browser issues.
O'Neil Software recommends the use
of Internet Explorer 6 or above when using our meeting services.
Known Issues with Browsers
- In
Windows, when a non-Internet Explorer browser is set as the default browser,
clicking a URL in the chat windows will still launch Internet Explorer.
Known
Issues with Firefox 1.5
-
Firefox 1.5 improved popup blockers to increase control; this prevents WebEx
from opening a Web browser as needed. Unless the Firefox popup blocker is
configured to allow WebEx popups, the functions are impacted:
-
Share Web Browser
-
Invite by Email
Known Issues with Firefox 1.0
-
Firefox users must have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed.
-
On Windows, you can
use Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.3.0_01 and greater, but
not
the Microsoft Java VM (which can only be used with Internet Explorer).
-
You can use the XPInstall to
install JRE 1.4.2_01 from within Firefox.
-
The easiest way to get Java working is to install Firefox with the
unofficial installer and then install Java with
XPInstall.
-
If you already downloaded Firefox as a ZIP file, you can manually add the
registry information that JRE 1.4.2 and later requires. To do this, save
this registry file to your desktop and then double-click the file to
import it. If you are asked to add information to the Windows registry,
click Yes. You can now install JRE 1.4.2, restart Firefox, and use
Java.
-
If none of the solutions described above works, you can use
JRE 1.4.1_05 until the issue you are having is resolved. Unlike JRE
1.4.2, JRE 1.4.1_05 does not require that information be added to the
Windows registry.

- By
default, Firefox opens links in the most recently-opened tab or window. To
work properly, WebEx requires that the initial browser window remain open
until your meeting ends. However WebEx needs to open certain pages in a
separate browser window. To prevent Firefox from opening these pages in the
initial WebEx browser window, please update your Firefox preferences to
always open links in a new window or tab. To change Firefox options, from
the Tools menu select Options, Advanced, and then Tabbed Browsing.
WebEx opens links in a new browser for the following features:
-
Invite by Email
-
Share Web Content
-
Help
-
Learn More link on the Quick Start Page
-
Verify Rich Media Player
-
Welcome Message
-
Launching a test page in Training Center
-
After a meeting ends, the feedback page after may not appear when the popup
blocker is enabled in Firefox.
-
If you
download meetings that were recorded over the network, the proper .wrf file
extension may not be appended to the downloaded filename. If this happens,
just add the ".wrf" file extension to the filename.
-
Files with
the .htm or .html file extension will not work in Firefox. Change your
default browser to Internet Explorer or share the file using application
sharing after you load the file in your preferred Web browser.
Known Issues with Mozilla
-
Mozilla users who join or host a meeting may not be able to connect to a
remote computer during the meeting. If this occurs, WebEx recommends that
you use the Firefox or Internet Explorer Web browsers instead.
Known Issues with Windows
-
New installations of Windows XP SP2 do not include a java virtual machine.
In some cases, WebEx will use a Java applet to download and launch the WebEx
Meeting client. You can download the latest version of Java from
http://www.java.com.
-
Windows XP SP2 enables Active X blocking by default. To properly join
meetings Active X may be required; if requested, allow WebEx site to install
and run Active X plug-ins.
-
Shared Adobe Acrobat (PDF) documents formatted in landscape mode may display
in portrait mode. This is a known WebEx limitation. To share PDF documents
in landscape mode, share the Adobe Reader application.
