The
MC50 from Symbol Technologies is first in a class of
mobile computers that combines an enhanced PDA-style
form factor with optimal performance to operate
enterprise-level applications. Ideal for the
mobile management of record storage data, this small,
lightweight mobile computer features advanced data
capture options, flexible voice and data communication
and easy wireless local area network (WLAN)
synchronization.
The MC50, featuring O’Neil’s RSMobile software, puts powerful, real-time information right into the hands of your
record center mobile workforce with superior data capture capability, wireless communications and processing power,
plus the new Microsoft® Windows Mobile 2003 operating system. It enables your business to more efficiently and productively
manage customer data by gathering, tracking and sharing critical record center information at the point of activity.
Additionally, the hand-held’s compact Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) styling,
with full QWERTY keyboard makes it an ideal
general purpose unit.
Intel® XScale™ Technology
The Intel XScale is the fastest microprocessor available for Pocket PC devices and enables the
MC50 to run at an impressive 520 MHz.
This high performance data processor combined with 64 MB RAM and 64 MB ROM contribute to the power of the
MC50, allowing
application flexibility and extended, on-the-go data management capability.
Durable
for General Record Center Applications
The MC50 is designed to be more durable than a consumer-grade PDA,
although it is not as rugged as the PDT8146
or PPT8846. Extra reliability is built into every aspect of the MC50 – from battery contacts to keypads – to ensure it exceeds the performance demands of daily, high-volume usage. Managers, supervisors and sales professionals can feel more confident using the MC50 from anywhere at anytime, whether it is on the road,
in the warehouse or at a customer site
Large, Vibrant, Color LCD Display
The MC50 hand-held’s backlight illuminates the sharp, easy-to-read display in dimly lit areas such as the record center warehouse.
The LCD display contrast is adjustable, making it more readable in different lighting conditions and at many viewing angles. And the
MC50’s 37-key QWERTY keyboard and touch-screen provide multiple modes of data entry to ensure maximum efficiency.
2 Dimensional Scanning (2-D)
Another benefit of this technology is the PDT8146s ability to read a 2-D barcode. Now mobile users can scan one 2-D barcode to validate numerous
items, instead of scanning each item individually. This increases users productivity.
Memory Slot
The MC50 supports a large amount of memory capacity and also offers a user-accessible memory
slot. This means that a mini
RS-SQL database can be loaded into the hand-held and stored on the flash memory card. Should the hand-held itself ever become damaged or cease
to function, the memory card can be removed and loaded into another hand-held with no data lost.
Built-In Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
WLAN connectivity enables the MC50 to deliver data where and when it’s needed, enhancing productivity wherever record center
business is conducted – whether taking inventory in the record center or checking an order from a customer site.
Additionally, with wireless access to the network, mobile users no longer have to place their device in a cradle for communications.
Access Points, which support radio communications, allow users to send and receive scanned information via their hand-held. And multiple
users can communicate at the same time through Access Points at distances of 100 feet or greater. This means no lines waiting to send or
receive data, increasing labor efficiency.
