As we all start a new year together I can only say that,
despite the gloomy predictions, I see a strong future
for records management. Almost every day I am
contacted by you with ideas for new features that will
help secure new contracts. As we strive to ensure
our software is ready an able to help you meet those
challenges, I am delighted to be the one who shares the
information with you. In the latest news section
you can click on links to forum sessions where I am
explaining each of the new features, coming soon, and
provide you with an opportunity to give us your
feedback.
This month I also got involved in another charity event.
As you know, our Strategic Partner Conference raised
over $23,000 for a charity focused on children and
healthy eating strategies. I am delighted to be
involved with PRISM International who has picked up the
baton and started their first charity event. You
can read more about it in the Industry News section.
Finally, I am using the forum as a new place to post
information and so you will see it featuring more and
more in my correspondence. I want to express my
sincere thanks to our moderators: Martin Duty, Martin
Cole, Jez Tibbetts and James Hill. These are not
O'Neil employees but users who see the benefits of
creating an O'Neil Community and without their help the
forum probably would not have gone ahead. You can
read how this is becoming a growing community in the
What's New section below.
As always, I hope you enjoy this edition. Ian Thomas
Vice President - Business Development

RSWin Upgrade to RS-SQL removed from our CD
Are they any
RSWin users still out there? If there are, please
note that as of RS-SQL version 3.07, we will no longer be
compiling the RSWIN Conversion program. The _dbco folder
will not be included on the 3.07 CD. If a customer wants
to convert from RSWIN, they will need to convert to a 3.06
database using the 3.06 RSWIN conversion program found on
the 3.06 CD. Then they can upgrade to a higher RSSQL
Version. We will include this information our 3.07 release
notes.
Will Windows 7 Save Microsoft?
It's the start
of a new year and, after using Windows Vista for most of
2008, I have to say that it's never quite lived up to my
expectations. I am a strong supporter of Microsoft and
their products, despite all the negative press. Just look
at the success of Microsoft Office and its suite of
products. I use them every day and they are incredibly
reliable. Then take a look a SQL Server, the foundation of
RS-SQL. It has grown from its humble beginnings to a
fabulous, reliable, scalable product.
... but
Windows Vista?

RSWeb.NET,

Many of you will have read about
the recent exploit in Internet Explorer. Of course, this
prompted a lot of concern for everyone and I received a
few emails on the subject and why, currently, RSWeb.NET
is only supported in Internet Explorer. As such, I
thought that I should share my thoughts here...

Quiz
Us |

Here’s a question asked
of our technical specialists by an O'Neil Strategic Partner during the last month. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you
know the answer?
Question: We
would like to bill through Quickbooks. Is there a way to
roll O'Neil billing through our QB account so the Chart of
Accounts codes automatically match up? Please advise on
the best way to do this. Thanks!
