It's getting to an exciting time here at O'Neil Software, as we prepare for the Strategic Partner Conference.  Our support teams are putting together their presentations and "info-break" materials and our customer speakers are sending in their presentations.   It is great to see how rich and varied the content is this year, including a full look at our latest release (RS-SQL version 3.06).

It is always great to compare how you are doing to others and it is that time of year when the big companies start making their annual results public. So, in this months "Industry News" section I provide some of the links to gain more information.

We are looking forward to seeing so many of you next month so don't delay.

As always, I hope you enjoy this edition.

Vice President - Business Development

Strategic Partner Conference Registration  - 65% Full

With one month to go, we now have 65% of the available capacity filled for the conference.

If you have not attended one of these conferences before, be sure not to miss this opportunity to network with other users, meet the support & development team and learn how to maximize your software investment. Registration is required for all customers who wish to attend and space is limited to the first 150 people. Past experience has shown that these do sell out... so don't delay.

If you are travelling from a country where a visa to enter the US is required, you can download a letter to support your application at:

http://www.oneilsoft.com/partner/pdf/ConferenceVisaApplicationLetter.pdf

Strategic Partner Brochure Available Online

Don't forget to view the Strategic Partner Conference Brochure.  This comprehensive overview of the conference is available online at http://www.oneilsoft.com/news/conference/brochure2008.pdf

Strategic Partner Award Nominations Rolling In...

For those of you who have registered, don't forget to nominate yourselves for a Strategic Partner Award. The awards ceremony is always one of my favorite events at the conference, and usually a lot of fun too, so make sure you have a chance to win an O'Neil Strategic Partner Award.  You can see who has been nominated by clicking the Who's Nominated link below.

O'Neil EXPRESS sessions updated to Windows Media

Several customers recently told us that they were having problems with the O'Neil EXPRESS online training sessions.  These were all produced using a proprietary player from WebEx Corporation but this was proving to be problematic.  As a result, we have updated all sessions to now run as Windows Media Files in your browser.  Please contact us if you encounter any difficulties with this new format.

SQL Server 2008 and RS-SQL

Microsoft has now launched the latest version of their SQL Server database, known as SQL Server 2008.  This is probably going to be your preferred choice if you are upgrading from SQL Server 7.0, especially as we have previously announced that RS-SQL databases are no longer supported on SQL Server 7.0.   Note that Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 are both still supported.

We are not anticipating any problems with RS-SQL and SQL Server 2008 but, if you install this version, please liaise with your local support team so they are aware of your infrastructure, should an unexpected problem occur.

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Microsoft. What's the story?

Are you as confused as the rest of us as to Microsoft's plans for Windows XP and Vista.  Should you upgrade from XP to Vista or wait for the rumored Windows 7.0?

Click here to read a letter from Bill Veghte, Senior Vice President at Microsoft Corporation, who attempts to explain all...

As always, if you are unsure or require further clarification on any of the technical topics discussed... simply ASK! Remember, we are only a telephone call or email away. For our contact details, click here.

Quiz
Us
Here’s a question asked of our technical specialists by an O'Neil Strategic Partner during the last month. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you know the answer?

Question:   I use the Bill Forward feature to charge most of my customers for storage quarterly in advance.  I have an unusual request where a customer want  me to Bill Forward for 2 years.  They are a law firm who has to keep records for a business that has liquidated.  Is this possible?
