As we continue our planning for the Strategic Partner
Conference 2008, I am reminded that many of you need
plenty of time to plan your trip. It is for that
reason I have opened up the registration early this
year, so you have plenty of time. The agenda is
getting finalized with one final session being firmed up
but there should be something for everyone. You
can learn more in the What's New section below.
Don't forget to check out the Technical Support section
for news on two important updates for RS-SQL and also to
discover the link for entering on-line support requests.
Finally, we are delighted by your feedback relating
to the new section, named "The Last Word...". This
is where you can hear directly from our customers how
they implemented a new feature or won a new account.
This month, you can learn all about the GPRS
functionality in RSMobile.
As always, I hope you enjoy this edition. Ian Thomas
Vice President - Business Development

RS-SQL
Tip |
 |
Want to Know who is Logged in to
RS-SQL?
Maybe you want to know if a customer is logged on via
the web or if someone is working in a remote facility?
Either way, here is a quick and simple tip to help you
know who is logged in to your RS-SQL system.
Go to the Administration > Options > User > Users
Grid and press F6 to see the available Quick Queries.
You should see one named: zUsersCurrentlyUsingRS-SQL

Run this query and you will see a list of all users
currently using the software. You may want to
ensure you are showing the User Type column on the grid.
You can select this by selecting Format > Columns
from the menu.

Quiz
Us |
 |
Here’s a question asked
of our technical specialists by an O'Neil Strategic Partner during the last month. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you
know the answer?
Question:
I want to use monitors and send electronic invoices but my
I.T. guy told me I need a MAPI compatible email server.
This sounds complicated. Can you tell me what I need?
Answer: The good news is that your I.T.
person was correct but things got a whole lot
easier with SQL Server 2005. Database Mail, has
been a new
addition to the SQL Server 2005 database engine since
early 2007 but most people haven't taken advantage of it
yet. Destined to be the
replacement for SQL Mail, Database Mail uses a Simple
Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server to send e-mails
rather than using the MAPI accounts that SQL Mail
required. This allows your organization to send
e-mails with attachments. It also gives you the ability
to set many other configuration settings without
requiring you to have an Exchange Server or configuring
any type of MAPI workaround.
