Ever stop and consider how important branding is in your records storage management business is?

When your customers visualize your business, it’s more than just your facility site – your actual business is your brand and in it rests all of your company’s worth. It encompasses everything that makes you unique in the marketplace; it is the personality and soul of your company. When successful branding takes place, your “look” works as a catalyst to trigger instant recognition on the part of the customer. It indicates what you are selling/the services you are providing, the value you are offering and what they can expect from doing business with you.

Tip
Adjust Pricing at the Start of the Year...

It's the beginning of the year and many companies have enquired about updating their customers prices before invoicing at the end of January.  This is very easy to do in RS-SQL.

The Adjust Pricing menu option provides a way to change price values for selected transactions. You can apply a percentage increase/decrease or a fixed amount increase/decrease to prices recorded in the Additional Amount column, Discount Base Rate column, and Quantity Break grid for the selected transaction. You can also modify pricing by specifying a conversion relationship, i.e., "exchange rate", between the current monetary unit and a new one.

Support Desk Shuffle

Many of you may have noticed that we did a little shuffling of the support desk staff over the holiday period.

Alan Robinson, who has led the European Support Team for the last 9 years, has relocated to the Corporate Office in Irvine, California.  Alan brings to the head office a vast amount of experience, including working in a record center before joining the O'Neil team.  Alan's email address remain unchanged as alan.robinson@oneilsoft.com

William Ramsay, who worked at the Australian Support desk for over 2 years has transferred to the European Office in Milton Keynes, UK.  William brings industry and IT experience with him to boost the team.  Wiliams email address also remains unchanged as william.ramsay@oneilsoft.com

The US team has also been boosted with the arrival of Craig Ashley, who comes to us with 9 years of experience in software help desk support and Candice (Candy) Hansler, who provided software support and custom report writing for 10 years prior to joining O’Neil.

End of Sale or Support Announcements

Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 -  The support of RS-SQL for this version of SQL Server will cease with the first release after June 30, 2007. SQL Server 7.0 has already been moved to "extended" support by Microsoft and is not supported for companies who did not register with them before March 2006. The continued support of SQL Server 7.0 by O'Neil Software has meant that we cannot introduce functionality present in SQL Server 2000. Please contact your support or business development  representatives to discuss upgrading to SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005

RSWeb "Classic" - With the general release of RSWeb.NET in version 3.02 or RS-SQL we wish to cease delivery of the RSWeb classic interface, introduced in 1999, with the first release of RS-SQL after June 30, 2007. The newer RSWeb.NET offers greater functionality to our customers and our customers should be encouraged to update RSWeb Classic installations during the first half of 2007. The RSWeb Classic interface will be removed from the distribution CD. Please contact your support or business development  representatives to discuss transferring at no charge from the older RSWeb to RSWeb.NET.

As always, if you are unsure or require further clarification on any of the technical topics discussed... simply ASK! Remember, we are only a telephone call or email away. For our contact details, click here.

Quiz
Us
Here’s a question asked by an O'Neil Strategic Partner during the last month of our technical specialists. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you know the answer?

Question: I have some Spanish speaking staff working in the warehouse and I want them to see electronic pick lists and their RS-SQL communication screens in their language?

Answer: RS-SQL allows you to translate any text on any screen in the main program, in RSMobile and in RSWeb.NET. To create a new language, simply go to Administration, Maintenance, Language and ADD a new language giving it a new name.  You can then select options to translate each "string" into the language of your choice.  This is incredibly flexible as you can translate RSWeb.NET screens into "Client Language" such as medical terminology.

For quick edits of particular screens, you can use the "Translate on Demand" feature.

Windows
Tip

Display the Quick Launch Bar

If you have opened more than one program, you might like to display and use the Quick Launch bar. The Quick Launch bar makes it easy to access frequently used programs like Windows Media Player and your e-mail, and to open an Internet Explorer window. Windows XP loads several programs in the Quick Launch, including Show Desktop. One click on Show Desktop minimizes all the programs on your desktop. Another click restores them just as you'd left them.

To display Quick Launch on the taskbar

1. If the Quick Launch bar is not displayed, right-click an empty area on the taskbar and click Properties.
2. On the Taskbar tab, under Taskbar appearance, select the Show Quick Launch check box and click OK.
After Quick Launch is displayed, click Show Desktop to minimize all open programs.
