It was not a big surprise that October turned out to be
such a busy month at O'Neil. With the 3rd Strategic
Partner Conference planned for 150 people, we knew that
you would keep us occupied but we didn't expect the great
news we received two weeks later. You can read all
about the Conference in the Spotlight
Section below and all about the other good news in the
What's New section.
Also it was exactly one-year ago that we encouraged you
to sign up for the O'Neil EXPRESS online training courses
at no charge until the end of 2004. Twelve months
later and they are still running at no charge. If you haven't joined
the over 300 people who have tried out these courses, what
are you waiting for? The price is right and you can
review them at your leisure. Find out more in the
Training section below.
As always, I hope you enjoy this edition.

Strategic Partner Conference
Review
I want to say a "Euge" thanks to all the
attendees at this year's Conference and especially to
the speakers. I think I can speak for everyone when
I say that this was a great learning and networking
experience.
So how did we do? These quotes summed up many people's feelings:
"I can not
tell you how much I enjoyed the session in CA. It was a
great group."
Gail Bisbee -
Confidential Records Management
"Thank you for a terrific user conference. I enjoyed
meeting other O’Neil users and winning the Record Center
Challenge. Definitely a first class event."
Chris Harrer - United Document Storage LLC
"Thank you for a wonderful conference. I truly
enjoyed meeting all of the attendee’s and sponsors. I
think you and your team did a great job of creating an
intimate and informative environment." -
Charles F. Saponaro -
ArchivesOne
... and my favourite quote from our happy EarlyBird Prize
Winner:
"Wow, Thanks a ton you guys! The MC50 is awesome!
Rocky said he had a great time, learned a bunch and made
some good contacts. You guys are the best!"
Jeff Fronius - Advanced Records Management
You can read the highlights and

We would also like to thank everyone who completed the
post-conference questionnaire. This is an invaluable
resource for us in future planning. The complete,
unedited results can be viewed at at:

Thank you one again for making this Conference the best
yet... and don't forget to apply your discount coupons to

UK Company Expands
File and Data Storage Ltd a premiere Records Management
Company are pleased to announce their move from Cheltenham
to a purpose built, new facility in Ashchurch, Tewkesbury.
The move is scheduled to take place mid November 2005 and
signals a new era in records management for the Cheltenham
based company. Managing Director Tony Croft has been with
the company since its inception in 1997. He is justifiably
proud of the growth the company has experienced and
comments: ‘The move places File and Data at the forefront
of the Records Management Industry. The new facility of
over 1.5m cu ft will enable the company to provide a full
range of state of the art services including archiving in
a temperature controlled environment, storage of film,
deeds, tapes and price sensitive documents. The Company's
network now covers much of the UK and significant further
expansion and development is planned for 2006."

RS-SQL
Tip |
 |
|
Changing Dates in RS-SQL
Any time a dialog box shows a date field, you have two
options for entering the information. You can enter a date
via the keyboard, or by generating a calendar from which
you can select any date. Many people like keyboard
entry as they don't have to reach for the mouse but did
you know there are some quick keyboard steps to help you? Firstly, to type a date with the
keyboard, simply make sure your cursor shows at the left
of the field and type the date you need. The text entry is
free text (the separator character is not displayed as you
type). In addition to the standard date separator as defined in your regional
settings, you can always use "/", "\", and ".".
Below are some examples of ways
to enter the date 04/07/2005:
04/07/2005
04072005
040705
04.07.2005
4.07.05
0407
4.07
4/07
You can also use the up and
down arrow keys to move quickly through dates. The
following keys can be used to change dates:

RSMobile Patch
Available
If you use storage cards with your RSMobile software a patch
(number 25 for RS-SQL Version 2.08) is now
available. The associated release notes and the patch
files are posted on our web site at
http://www.oneilsoft.com/support/updates.shtml
Where to find the Destruction
Authorization Report
At the Strategic Partner Conference many people did not realize they
already had so many of the Reporting Services management
reports available to them. One that was mention in particular
was the Destruction Authorization
Report, which most said they would like to use. To access
the Destruction Authorization Report you must go into Administration,
Records Retention, Reporting, Destruction Authorization.
RSWeb Configuration
Also at the Strategic Partner Conference
our support team answered a lot of questions
about RSWeb. Many related to functionality that is
already available, such as the detailed item verify
option. Now that the RS-SQL and RSWeb rswin.ini settings
are held in the database, you can browse through
them to see what is available. Go into the
Administration Program, Maintenance, RSWin.INI Config
option and select the RSWeb button to see all the
available options.
Confirm Materials & Services on
the PDT
Finally, at the Conference
we were asked by many people for the
ability to confirm the delivery of materials and services
via their PDT. This functionality was recently
released with version 2.08 of RS-SQL. You can find
out what else was included in that release by reading the
release highlights document found at:
http://www.oneilsoft.com/pdf/solutions/ds0021i-RS-SQL2-08.pdf
As always, if you are unsure or require further clarification on any
of the technical topics discussed... simply ASK!
Remember, we are only a telephone call or email away. For our
contact details, click here.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before loading any service packs,
check with your O'Neil support representative first. News on
the affects of loading a service pack is received all of the time
and they will be able to advise you of any issues.

Quiz
Us |
 |
Here’s a question asked by an O'Neil Strategic Partner during the last month of
our technical specialists. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you
know the answer?
Question: I want to be able to put additional
information at the bottom of my invoice, such as "Remit
to:...". I know there is a way of editing the file
named INVHDRFTR.IDI but it doesn't seem to work with my
invoices? I use the WORKORDE Invoice Format.
What am I doing wrong?
Answer: The INVHDRFTR.IDI is a file that can
be edited in a simple text editor to allow additional
information to be seen on an invoice. BE CAREFUL to
keep a copy of the original file and test carefully any
changes. The problem you experienced is because
there are three invoice formats that do not reference the
INVHDRFTR. These are: WORKORDE,
WORKORD2, or RSDOS. If you use any of the other
invoice formats you should see your changes clearly
displayed on every invoice.
