LATEST RS-SQL VERSION IS ON ITS WAY
You know how we love to start the new year with a new release
and this will be no different. We have finished the majority
of our testing and shortly you will be receiving the latest version
of RS-SQL. This release includes some fantastic new features
that will help to manage files in containers even better along with
the latest release of the new PDT communications software and a new
method for licensing your database. Want to know more?

SYMBOL LAUNCHES NEW O'NEIL, WIRELESS PRINTERS
Our sister company (O'Neil Product
Develeopment) has created the wearable MF Series direct thermal
printers for Symbol Technologies featuring Spectrum24® wireless
local area network (WLAN) connectivity. With this new
technology you can print directly without the need to plug the unit
into your PDT. That's right - no cables. Will they be
available with RS-SQL? You better believe it. Testing is
already underway and these units interface easily with the new
PDT8100 series. To learn more follow these links:

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TYPE OF USER
YOU ARE?
When setting up the people who will access RS-SQL, it is good to
consider what access you want. The normal user types are:
A Standard
User is one who works in the main facility and who uses the
system.
A Remote
Employee is one who works in a remote facility. He may use the
main system on occasion, but is, in general stationed at a remote
site.
A Remote
Customer is the status that you assign to any customers who will
be using the system from a remote site using such products as
PCAnywhere or Citrix Metaframe.
A Web User
can only access RS-SQL through the Internet. Even if your customer
were to come to your office and try to log in on one of your
workstations, he couldn't unless you changed his user type status.
A Report User
is not able to login to RS-SQL directly or perform any data
modification. This user type is designed for use only by external
reporting applications, such as Microsoft Access.
So Here is the
Tip...
Most people who
work in the record center are generally set up as Standard Users but
there can be some benefits to setting them up using the Remote
Customer type. This type was designed to stop customers with
access being able to change certain data. For example in the
Add/Edit dialogue a user with this type has limited editing
capabilities, which may be more suitable for certain staff.
The Barcode, Account, Status, Add Date and Access Count are some of
the fields that can only be viewed.

OLDER MICROFLASH PRINTERS AND THE PDT8100
If you are
planning to utilize your older MF2 printers with the new PDT8100,
please be aware that, in order to maximize on some of the newer
advances, such as printing 2D barcodes, the older versions may not
be fully compatible. Firmware versions 4.xx or newer is
required.
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT SQL?

Of course, you can always go straight to the source for information
as well.
