A New Year and some new beginnings... January
often brings a new release of the software and this year
is the same. With RS-SQL 4.03 we have delivered on
some requested enhancements and we are making another
step to using cloud-based services to make everyone's
life easier, with an update to how we can transmit
licensing information.
We were also able to complete a second RMBridge
integration to RS-SQL, as well as a the first steps in a
relationship with Digitech Solutions and their
PaperVision Imaging suite, which I am confident will
continue to grow. These latest integrations
continues our commitment to make it easier for RS-SQL
users to work with other software providers.
I also want to extend my very best wishes to the team at
REB Storage Systems who celebrate their
50th Anniversary. Our Strategic Vendor Partner
of the Year for 2011, REB continue to excel in the
industry. Congratulations to them from all of us
at O'Neil.
Finally, if you LIKE the newsletter, why not give us a
quick thumbs-up and LIKE us on FaceBook? It's a great

So enough from me as there's lots for you to read.
As always, I hope you enjoy this edition.

What's New at O'Neil |
 |
RS-SQL 4.03 is on its way...
As I write this the support and development groups are
both finishing up the final release of RS-SQL 4.03.
This release focuses on delivering features and
enhancements requested over the previous months.
Almost every area of the software gets something new,
from RS-SQL, RSWeb and RSMobile, right through to a
fabulous, convenient new way for us to update your
software licenses. Here's an overview of some of
the new features:
Image Storage Method – Digitech: A new
Image storage method, Digitech Systems, has been added.
This storage method is only used by record centers that
are using the Digitech PaperVision product. It allows
the record center to reference images that are stored on
the PaperVision platform from within RS-SQL. These
images can, in turn, be delivered to the customer via
RSWeb.NET using what is called a Document Grant in
Digitech terminology.
Image Purge
In previous versions you had the ability to delete an
image, which also deleted all activity related to the
image. You now have the ability to remove images from an
image record while keeping the image record itself.
Purging an image removes association to the image file
from the RS-SQL image record and deletes the image file
if possible. RS-SQL retains all image data entry,
activity, and billing information. Purged images are not
counted when calculating the number of images for
licensing purposes.
Your Terms and Conditions for RSWeb.NET Logins
A new menu option is now available that allows you to
add a customized Terms and Conditions page to RSWeb.NET.
When the Web user accepts the Terms and Conditions, the
date accepted is added to the Web User information in
RS-SQL. The next time the user logs in, they will not
see the Terms and Conditions page.
RSMobile-Prefix Command
Changes have been made to the Prefix Command included
with RSMobile. This feature gives you the ability to
scan barcodes of any length, add a prefix and pad them
out with zeros to a specified length.
Cloud Based Licensing (CBL)
With Cloud Based Licensing there is no longer a need to
create and email SRI files and then wait for an SL file
to be emailed back to you. The new RS-SQL License
Manager service running on your internet accessible
computer means licensing information can be sent
directly to and from O’Neil via the internet based
cloud. Once you enter an activation code (provided by
O’Neil), the rest is done for you. When your system
limits change for any reason, O’Neil will reset the
license information and it will automatically be updated
on your computer within 15 minutes (as long as the
RS-SQL License Manager service is running and
communicating with O’Neil licensing servers in the
cloud).
RS-SQL 4.03 Overview Webinar Coming Soon
To introduce you to the new features, we are planning to
present a webinar overview to show you each enhancement
within the software. Look for an email announcing
the dates of the webinars in your region soon.
Intandem Solutions introduce their RMBridge Certified
Solution
Much was made of the announcement by
O'Neil DataTech and Accutrac (due to them being an
Iron Mountain Company) when the first
RMBridge integration was completed. Well,
another integration was completed at the end of 2011,
without the same fan-fare, but is just as significant as
we work to integrate RS-SQL with more products.
Intandem Solutions Ltd., a provider of enterprise
content management solutions, have partnered to provide
an integrated solution for managing physical documents
stored in off-site record centers directly from the
Intandem Solutions FileTrack product. This capability
will allow end users, managing both digital and physical
records, the ability to manage this
content in a consistent manner directly from the
FileTrack software solution.
81 countries and counting...
O’Neil Software, who recently celebrated their 30 year
anniversary, continues to count the many countries whose
business they’ve earned...81, which includes their
latest addition - Williams & Gosling Ltd., based in Suva
Fiji Islands.
Williams & Gosling Ltd. (W&G), who recently celebrated
their 75th anniversary, offers a full range of
Integrated Logistics Services: Imports and Exports by
Sea and Air; Haulage Operators; Shipping Agency/Document
Storage and Household Removals. The company has been
providing customers Document Storage Services for the
past 9 years and currently has
7500 cartons in store for 11 clients.
Dallas Sales Office Closed
At the beginning of this month we made the difficult
decision to close the Dallas sales office. If you
were previously used to contacting that office, please
redirect your calls to Florida (727-726-6173) or
California (949-458-1234).

Tracking

more like

Yet they are

The Place to Meet Members of the O'Neil
Team
In this new
section, we
thought we
would
continue
something
that was
clearly
popular at
our recent
Strategic
Partner
Conference -
meeting the
team. This
month we
head down to
Australia:
Name:
Chris
Luckman
Job
Title:
Senior
Software
Trainer
Job
Description:
My role as
trainer for
the Europe,
Middle East
and Africa
region means
that I get
to visit all
the new
customers in
the region
(which, yes,
does entail
a lot of
travelling)
as well as
many of our
existing
customers
who have
identified
needs for
additional
or refresher
training. I
also get
involved
with some
technical
support and
sales.
Favorite
part of
working for
O'Neil:
I find it
great to be
part of a
small team
who all
provide me
with the
support that
is sometimes
needed when
I am on-site
at a
customer.
However, the
aspect of
the job that
gives me the
most
satisfaction
is training
a new
customer and
then seeing
that
business
develop and
become
successful
over the
following
months and
years. It is
nice to know
that I now
have people,
that I
consider to
be friends,
all over the
EMEA region
in addition
to my
colleagues
in the other
O’Neil
offices
world-wide.
Favorite
Feature in
the
software: Utilising
the wireless
and GPRS
capabilities
within
RS-Mobile.
The
additional
functionality
that becomes
available
makes for a
more
efficient
operation
and also
enables our
customers to
present a
more
professional
image to
their own
clients.
Years
with O'Neil:
Almost 8
years now.
What do
you like to
do when not
at work?
I like to
spend time
with my
children and
(seemingly
rapidly
increasing
number of)
grandchildren.
I also have
an interest
in
photography
and run
fund-raising
quizzes by
setting the
questions
and acting
as
quizmaster.

Quiz
Us |
 |
This
month we look at another question that our support team
or User Forum
was asked. Why not test your knowledge by seeing if you know the answer?
Question:
When picking files out of
boxes, using the RSMobile scanner, when we add an
unregistered file, I sometimes find a file that was
already barcoded. It is now on my system twice and
it's a pain to remember to delete one so I don't charge
the customer twice. Is there an easier way to
resolve this?
