Irvine, California— Okay...so Picassos they will never be and not a one of their masterpiece paintings will ever go down in history as a great work of art. As a result, it was overwhelmingly decided that they best keep their records management day jobs - at least for now.
However, their hearts were in the right place and “For The Record,” they painted, on canvasses, their rendition of the Orange County Ronald McDonald House®, with as much attention to detail as they could glean from a picture. By the end of O’Neil’s 2010 Conference, the company’s customers and vendors raised $21,257 for this local charity, by auctioning off these “want-to-be masterpieces” and other industry-related silent auction items.
The goal? Help the OC Ronald McDonald House lift some of the heavy financial burden on families by providing a comfortable and affordable “home away from home,” while their child is being treated for a serious illness at a nearby hospital.This highly anticipated, records management industry networking event took place April 21-23, 2010 at the beautiful Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, California (“Surf City, USA”). The hotel’s ocean view location was the perfect place to hold this particular venue, surpassed only by their gracious hospitality and service that lent itself to a unique, interactive and memorable experience.
“It was great to see so many of our customers and vendors in attendance, despite these tough economic times - in fact, partially because of these difficult times,” notes Ian Thomas, VP of Business Development. “It says a lot about the value they place on our venue; the industry and product knowledge they obtain; the chance to give back and help others less fortunate; and the networking opportunities it affords them so they can grow their business and lead their industry in quality, value, innovation and profitability.”

The Orange County Ronald McDonald House is located only a few blocks from Children’s Hospital of Orange County, California (CHOC) and other pediatric hospitals and medical facilities in the area. It offers a pleasant, comfortable, affordable and loving place for up to 20 families with seriously ill children. Since opening its doors in 1989, The House That Love Built® has welcomed more than 10,000 families from over 22 countries. The OC Ronald McDonald House provides a temporary home for families, whose children are hospitalized and receiving treatment at a nearby medical facility. It helps anchor families in extremely trying times, reducing stress by providing a venue where people can eat, sleep, relax and find comfort and encouragement with others wrestling with the same serious heath issues. This allows guest families to focus on one thing — the health of their child. Time is spent healing, not worrying.
Families are asked to pay only $10.00 a night and if that isn’t possible, their stay is free. For this reason, the charity seeks the support of kind, caring and compassionate individuals, foundations, corporations and service groups.
And because it takes more than windows and walls, kitchens and bathrooms to make a house a home, more than 4,690 volunteers help keep the OC Ronald McDonald House doors open around-the-clock, 365 days a year. In addition, the OC charity’s two Ronald McDonald Family Room programs provide a sanctuary near or in childrens’ hospitals in Orange County for children and their families. The purpose is to provide a quiet, “oasis of calm” for families of children undergoing treatment, in the midst of the often hectic hospital environment.
