But it is also an opportunity for O'Neil to learn what our customers need to succeed. Over the years, we have had a lot of new ideas suggested to us. And as a result, our software solutions have taken some different avenues than what we initially expected.
But today, this is what business is all about - change.
We hope you enjoy reviewing some of the moments from our previous Conferences.
WOW!! What can I say. You guys blew us away. This is the 5th Strategic Partner Conference and your enthusiasm made it the best yet. Not only did we see some of the funniest antics in the Record Center Challenge but the networking interaction was simply awesome.

Sessions
This year, the Strategic Partner Conference opened with a keynote from Kevin Boyle of Microsoft. During the session he gave views on where Microsoft were heading, the importance of the relationship with O'Neil Software and an overview of the new Vista operating System and the new Office 2007 suite of programs.
We ran triple-track sessions this year with speakers from government as well as commercial record centers. We heard about successful implementation of new technology, corporate & commercial record management partnerships and even guides to being successful.
The support team provided a whole host of tips and ideas from RSWeb.NET customizations to RSMobile's hidden treasures.
The Record Center Challenge
This year's challenge introduced a new dimension with the end result being donated to charity. 22 teams of 6 people constructed bicycles to be donated to local, under privileged children. Competition to build the best bicycle was fierce but everyone turned out to be a masterpiece of modern engineering. Thanks to the generosity of BridgeDoc, we were also able to donate $2000 to the charity.
I would like to express my personal thanks to everyone for enthusiastically taking on this challenge. You have made a lot of children very happy this summer.
The Dinner Cruise and Awards Ceremony
After the exciting Record Center Challenge, it was off to the Queen Mary for the Awards Dinner. After a scary ghost tour, the attendees applauded this years Strategic Partner Award winners:
• Special Recognition Award - Don Landry of Filelink, LA.
• Award for Sales Excellence - Efficient Softech of Malaysia.
• Award for Technical Excellence - Access Information Management, CA
• Award for Operational Excellence - Stevens & Stevens, FL
• Strategic Partner of the Year (AustralAsia) - Navbharet Archives Xpress, India
• Strategic Partner of the Year (Europe) - The Hill Company, UK
• Strategic Partner of the Year (Americas) - Washington Archives Management, WA
We also had a lot of fun with the O'Neil Deal or No Deal game with a prize of up to $5000 value. Congratulation to Mark Womak of Arizona Records Management who struck a deal of a free user license beating his chosen filefolder, which was opened to reveal a $500 value.

It was an opportunity to mix business with pleasure; learning and letting loose; visiting with O'Neil Support Team members and networking with peers; vying for "bragging rights" to the Record Center Challenge or being recognized with other SP Awards at the O'Neil Software Strategic Partner Conference 2005 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach. And a great time was had by all!
Whether you were fortunate enough to attend or not, simply click on each of the below to share in this year's Strategic Partner Conference experience, that keeps bringing back attendees in record numbers whenever it is held.
Reception
Ah, the many faces of the SP Conference. Happy, smiling, relaxed. attendees arrived at the lavish Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach on a warm Wednesday evening. Awaiting them were O'Neil Software Team members anxious to meet and greet them, as well as share a night of great food and refreshing beverages all served outside under the stars. The cool sound of a jazz guitarist, playing in the background, set the mood for the evening and the guests.
Sessions
Interesting and informative Technical Support Team members and speakers had plenty of software expertise and industry experience to share, providing attendees with new ways of doing business and ideas for energizing their record centers. Everyone had an opportunity to talk to the Technical Support Team, one on one, about specific features and functions of O'Neil Software specific to their business and learn more about future development efforts. Additionally, attendees had a chance to visit with Strategic Partner Vendors and discover new add-on opportunities and profit streams.
Record Center Challenge
Look out Newport Beach! SP Conference attendees were given the chance to be their wildest, craziest, most competitive selves during this afternoon of high energy fun. The Record Center Challenge consisted of fast-paced activities and competition, with action just as crazy as we all remember from our youths. Everything from games such as Mission Download, Dial and De-Code, Far Fig Newton Golfing, Roped-In and the most popular Water Balloon Volleyball! Which bragging rights did your team earn: the winners or the group that got the wettest?
Awards Ceremony
Attendees enjoyed a 3-hour cruise on what was formerly John Wayne's personal yacht, the Wild Goose, where food, drink and good conversation were plenty. After dinner, excellence was acknowledged and the prestigious Strategic Partner Award was presented to three operational regions: the Americas, Europe and Australasia. Additionally, special recognition awards were also given in the areas of Sales, Technical and Operational Excellence.
Networking
SP Conference attendees had an opportunity to learn best practices from their peers, people who use the same tools that they do to manage their business every day. As well as exchange ideas, discover new resources, make valuable connections, new friends and business associates.

The Strategic Partner Conference 2004 opened with a record, sold out, participation of 125 customers in attendance at the
Don CeSar Hotel and Spa, St Pete Beach, Florida. For the single registration fee all meals, sessions and events were provided by O'Neil Software. We would like to thank all the guest speakers, business partners and each and every one who contributed to the educational success of this years' conference.
Attendance
The conference was a great learning experience for O'Neil's diversified client base of over 500 companies, based in 51 countries. At this show we had representatives from 28 US states and 9 countries from Poland to Hong Kong. With the conference in Florida this year, it was a little easier for O'Neil's East Coast and European customers to attend. Thank you to everyone who attended and a special thanks to those who had to travel a little further this year.
Sessions
This year, the Strategic Partner Conference opened with an introduction from Ian Thomas, Vice President of Business Development, on the format of the conference. To start everyone off in a conference mood, he then gave away a $1000 cash prize to the winner of a group of early registrants. The winner was Leon McKie of Pacific Storage, Sacramento who was, to say the least, stunned into silence.
(Leon is shown here with Tim O'Neil, President & CEO of O'Neil Software, and Ian Thomas).
Our first educational speaker was the inspirational Gary Tobiczyk, who delivered an entertaining and thought provoking talk on generating new sales. Gary's demonstrated his vast industry experience, with companies such as Pierce Leahy, and openly shared his knowledge with the eager audience. Over the 2 days, customers were exposed to 7 customer speakers and 12 info-break presentations. The info-breaks proved to be one of the most popular parts of the conference, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about the software they already own and new features being introduced. Wireless communications, wireless receipt printing and signature capture proved to be of great interest to everyone. The info-breaks also allowed attendees to spend time with our Strategic Vendor Partners, who demonstrated how they add value to an existing O'Neil Software purchase.
The Record Center Challenge
This year's challenge followed the boat theme from 2002 but with a slightly different twist. Working in teams the goal was to build a boat from one of the basic materials of record storage (cardboard) and one member of the team had to race it across the hotel swimming pool. Sounds easy? Far from it but our 10 intrepid teams approached the task with vigor, flair and a good deal of humor.... and some of the boats really floated. The highlights are shown below. Click on the photo to see it enlarged:
The Dinner Cruise and Awards Ceremony
After the exciting Record Center Challenge, it was only fair to let everyone relax with a dinner aboard the beautiful Starship Dining Yacht. Three luxury buses took the attendees on a short ride to Tampa, Florida where we boarded and sailed in the gulf. After an enjoyable 3 course dinner the Strategic Partner Awards session took place.
So what did you think?
Our post-conference survey really said it all:
86% of attendees voted the conference as above average or excellent with no below average scores.
100% voted the fee as reasonable.
74% voted the speakers as above average or excellent
94% voted the location as above average or excellent
81% voted the record center challenge as above average or excellent
96% found the networking to be above average or excellent
100% said they were likely to attend the next conference
... and your comments were gratefully received. It was great to see that so many of your view your relationship with O'Neil Software as "Very Strong", "Strategic" or "A Partnership".
When it all was over...
With an action packed few days such as these there are many emotions at the end of it all.
|
New Friends were made...
|

Old loves rekindled...
|
|
Some members of the support team took a bow...
|

...and some rested peacefully with their new found knowledge of RS-SQL. |
Well many of you came, saw and conquered the Record Center Challenge, except the boats that went the wrong way around the harbor...but that's a long story.
It was so great to meet so many of you and to see how you really utilized this wonderful networking opportunity. We would like to express our most sincere thanks to the speakers, the hotel staff at the Hyatt Newporter, our event organizers (activities, Inc.), the attendees and all the O'Neil team for making this such a successful inaugural conference.
Luckily all customers 'survived' the Record Center Challenge and returned to their businesses better armed with information and contacts to tackle new challenges.
We have some "challenges" to tackle also - following up on the great Conference and recent Customer Service Survey comments and suggestions. You certainly have some great ideas that will ensure O'Neil Strategic Partners stay the Number One group of Commercial Records Managers WORLDWIDE. Yes, you read that right, you are the largest group in the world. Don't take my word for it, check out the numbers below.
I would also like to thank all of you who took part in the Survey and the Conference for making July and August such great learning and interactive months for us.
How are we doing?
We asked and you told us how we have been performing over the last 18 months. More than 150 of you took the time to respond to our questionnaire, which was hosted by Key Survey - an independent, professional research company. We will be taking some time over the coming months to examine closely all your comments and suggestions and to improve on areas that you feel we can do better.
The quantities were recalculated after the removal of duplicate company entries and accounted for 123 Companies using O'Neil Software - only 24% of the companies who use our software. Over 80% of those reported using RS-SQL compared to RSWin and not all respondents reported their numbers of items managed but the one's who did gave us some exciting numbers. Compare them to Iron Mountain's reported* 180 million containers and imagine the numbers if all O’Neil Users had responded and were working more closely together, such as at the recent Strategic Partner Conference:
Number of Containers Managed: 203,067,197
Number of Filefolders Managed: 109,428,606
Number of Standard Users: 6,395
Number of RSWeb Users: 2,461
No other Record Management Software Company can even come close to these numbers making O'Neil Software Strategic Partners the Largest Commercial Records Management Group WORLDWIDE.
